Ba Le Shuiping Teapot

The Ba Le Shuiping (Ba Le: Taiwanese name for guava; Shuiping: level or balanced) is one of the classic traditional Shuiping forms, with origins dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Its fuller lower body and narrower upper section naturally lower the center of gravity, making the pot stable in the hand and giving it a clean, efficient pour. The rounded, full body also helps retain heat and concentrate aroma, making it especially suitable for Gongfu brewing and highly aromatic oolong teas such as Phoenix Dancong and Wuyi rock tea.

This piece is made from original-ore Shengsha Zhuni. To better suit highly aromatic oolongs, the body is made relatively thin. Its simple, restrained lines and lack of excessive decoration give it both practical function and the understated character of traditional Gongfu teaware.
