The Gong Deng (“Palace Lantern”) form takes its inspiration from traditional Chinese lanterns once suspended in halls and residences.

This traditional form appeared during the Ming and Qing periods and carries an auspicious meaning. Palace lanterns were often associated with rich red tones, which is why Gong Deng teapots are commonly made from Zhuni.

This version is inspired by a mid-Qing Gong Deng associated with the “Yun Qing” mark. Its design combines firmness and softness: the straight edge of the lid and crisp foot provide structure, while the curved belly and slightly bent spout soften the overall form.

This thin-walled piece is especially suitable for highly aromatic oolong teas.
